We started off with overcast skies and a brisk North wind.
The sanctuary was filled with birds who were recovering from yesterday's
stiff winds and chilly temps.
Between 08:30 and 10:00 we had logged 37 different species at the host
station. As the day progressed the skies cleared, winds abated, and
temperatures rose. A flock of birds dropped by from all around the region
and sightings were frequent and enthusiastically reported. By 4:00 PM the
log showed nearly 40 visitors and over 50 different species observed.

A secondary event was the "Birds of Prey" demonstration at the nearby
Quintana Beach County Park.
Live hawks, eagles, owls,and an Andean Condor were shown uncaged and flying.
The families attending had a wonderful time.
I had suggested that the Andean Condor might be posed in front of one of the
QNBS water features so we could claim it as a "sighting" =;)
Several serious birders offered to do me "great physical harm" so the idea
was quickly abandoned. =;(
The Quintana Neotropic Bird Sanctuary will be staffed every day in April.
There's no cost, the folks are friendly, and the birds are plentiful.
