Texbirders,
I birded the Granger area today and the highlight was watching a flock of
calling Mountain Plovers fly back-and-forth over a field for at least 15
minutes before they disappeared over a rise. If you've ever observed this
species in flight, you know why Peter Matthiessen titled his book on shorebirds
"The Windbirds" (Great read if you've never read it).
Other highlights included a Pileated Woodpecker, a Gray Catbird, and McCown's
