. Has been years since I birded the south side of the Colorado eastward from Garfield but even for the date the big bottom land stuff was good. I wish I had hit the area during breeding season, but should be good in winter too. I could see the sports lights of Webberville Park across the river. There were Miss. Kites in 4 areas but since I did not bird these areas this summer, I don't know if they bred here or are migrants, A pair was at Crystal Lake too. Odd thing was a building that had Barn Swallows going in and out of the porch...It seems very late for them to still be nesting but I could not see up in there to know about any nests. Of course it is Aug. 7 so I stopped by the Valero station at 71-1209 to check on my favorite families of Western Kingbirds....Sure enough they are all gone, nor did I have a single Painted Bunting today....Chuck-wills shut down in Utley back on July 27 ...I often have them thru today Blk.-bellied Tree Ducks several, 2 with 7 ducklings Tri-colored Heron 2 Miss.
