This is an inquiry about an observed feeding behavior.... While on Joe Pool Lake this afternoon, I noticed a Great Blue Heron behaving in an atypical fashion. It was flying low over the water and dropping onto the surface of the lake for a moment and then resuming flight. This occurred 6 or 7 times in a five minute span. Flight behaviors were somewhat reminiscent of a Pelican's feeding behaviors exclusive of the high dives. So the question, how rare is this feeding strategy?
