A beautiful day on Laguna Atascosa NWR for the last bird tour of the season
on this unit. We traveled County Road and across Water Crossing #1 to West
Lake Road. The wind may have kept some of the smaller birds down, but it
seems many of the winter birds have gone north and the summer birds haven't
returned yet.
DC Cormorant were migrating in large flocks. Very few ducks remain and all
the remaining Coots are concentrated in large rafts.
The alligators were out in numbers, too, as were other reptiles, Indigo and
Western Diamondback.
