Hello Texbirders,
This morning's walk focused on the front entrance area, the levee and
trails to and from Willow Lakes. Highlights included good sequential looks
at both Altamira Oriole and a male Hooded Oriole. Nice comparison looks of
two exquisite birds! Nearby Great Kiskadees were building a nest and that
was pretty special too, as was beautiful views of a perched up singing
Long-billed Thrasher.
Over at HawkWatch, the excitement of the morning was an immature Common
Black Hawk being mobbed by three Harris's Hawks. We didn't get to see that
on the bird walk but we sure heard the stories!
Volunteer guided bird walks continue through the end of the month.
HawkWatch is on the levee from 8am-1pm until March 15. Come join in either
