Hi Texbirders,
A pair of Ringed Kingfishers flying loudly around at Willow Lakes and an
adult Zone-tailed Hawk mixed in with migrating Turkey Vultures were
definite highlights of this morning's walk. Even more exciting than the
birds themselves, perhaps, were the birders. The whole group was
enthusiastic but it was particularly inspiring to have two families with
us. In both cases, the parents were there to support their child's passion
for birds. One was a teen birder whose interested was sparked at the age of
eight. The other birder is four years old!!! He could identify red-winged
blackbirds by sound and converse quite knowledgeably about mourning dove
nests and kiskadees! Oh my, they give us hope for the world!
