Hello Texbirders,
The cold weather made the birds a little harder to come by this morning.
Perhaps that made the great views we got of 2 pair of ALTAMIRA ORIOLES and
two pair of GREEN KINGFISHERS a little more special as we took our time
with them, enjoying their beauty more than we might have done on a birdier
day. Favorite birds for us were the four AMERICAN AVOCETS that we watched
feeding while swimming and the two CASPIAN TERNS that seemed to be wherever
we went. low density of waterfowl also seems noteworthy despite there being
plenty of water in the resacas.
Guided bird walks leave from the Vistor Center every day at 8:30. Free with
