[texbirds] Fwd: [eBird Alert] Rare Bird Alert for Hidalgo <daily>

Sorry to be the skeptic, but I would like to see more details on the
reported Audubon's Oriole at Estero Llano Grande.
How was subadult male Hooded Oriole eliminated? Audubon's Oriole would be a
GREAT (basically unprecedented) record for Estero, especially in summer, so
additional details would be desirable. Did the oriole seem large or was it
slender--same for the bill? Were the lighting conditions good enough to
distinguish black from dark olive or brownish? Similarly, was the bird
really yellow or yellowish? Were any photos taken? If anyone has any
information, I'd be very happy to see it.

- Comments: "1 juvenile was observed at close range for several minutes as
it ate berries and then drank water from one of the water features at the
entrance to the park, on the trail to the visitor center. It was a large
oriole with yellow upperparts and underparts. The wings and tail were pale
black and the back was also yellow. The head was stages of yellow and black
- black on the throat and face and some black feathers on crown and nape. 2
observers saw the bird through binoculars and a scope at distances from 5
to 35 feet away."
