FYI: Please note that this not the Bastrop CBC....This count fits almost
exactly between the Bastrop and Austin CBCs for almost continuous coverage
along the Colorado River and its tributaries.....Much of the Lost Pines
Count area remains
rural.

Dear Birders,
It's time to make plans for the Sixth Annual Lost Pines Christmas Bird
Count. As a former volunteer, you are receiving this email with the hope
that you will join us again on *Saturday, December 17, 2016* from 6 a.m. to
5 p.m. Your time and effort counting bird species within our circle
contributes vital citizen science data to important bird conservation
research.
LCRA Parks along with Bastrop County Audubon Society and Texas Parks and
Wildlife Departmentâs Lost Pines Master Naturalists are hosting the event.
While we owe a huge debt of gratitude to our previous partner Hyatt Lost
Pines and especially Amanda Fier for helping to build public recognition
for this count circle over the last five years; they are no longer
partnering with us on this event. Consequently, there will be no workshops
or check-in at the Hyatt this year.
*Location:* The Lost Pines Christmas Bird Count launches from McKinney
Roughs Nature Park. The address is 1884 State Hwy 71 West, Cedar Creek, TX

*Check-in:* On Saturday, Dec. 17 at 5:30 a.m. we will gather at McKinney
Roughs to check-in and receive group assignments for the count.
Complimentary breakfast tacos and coffee will be available. Please be
prompt! Birding groups will depart for the field no later than 6 a.m. and
you will be unable to join your group after that time.
* Meals:* Please plan to bring your own lunch, beverages and snacks to
sustain you during the count. You will likely stay in the field with your
group for lunch. We recommend you come prepared given your personal dietary
needs.
*Attire/weather:* The Lost Pines Christmas Bird Count will take place rain
or shine. Please dress for your comfort and wear suitable footwear for your
land or river zone.
Should the forecast or conditions become harsh or threatening or pose a
risk to participantsâ safety, we reserve the right to postpone or
reschedule Saturdayâs official count to another day that meets Audubon
Society census requirements. Safety remains our top priority.
