A pleasant morning at Frontera Audubon Thicket in Weslaco netted nine species of warblers, two Green Kingfishers, 20 Green Parakeets overhead and I heard a Gray Hawk calling. Frontera is open 8AM-4PM Tues-Sat and Noon-4PM on Sundays. Here's the Ovenbird who was near the irrigation standpipe outside the gate to the Thicket. http://i1142.photobucket.com/albums/n610/antshrike/Birds/OvenbirdFrontera12-17-12004_resize.jpg Frontera Audubon Center, Hidalgo, US-TX Dec 17, 2012 9:45 AM - 12:35 PM Protocol: Traveling 1.0 mile(s) 34 species Plain Chachalaca 25 Black Vulture 2 Turkey Vulture 200 Gray Hawk 1 Red-tailed Hawk 1 Inca Dove 8 White-tipped Dove 3 Buff-bellied Hummingbird 1 Green Kingfisher 2 Green Parakeet 20 Eastern Phoebe 2 Great Kiskadee 3 White-eyed Vireo 1 Blue-headed Vireo 1 Green Jay 2 Black-crested Titmouse 2 House Wren 2 Carolina Wren 2 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher 3 Ruby-crowned Kinglet 5 Northern Mockingbird 6 Long-billed Thrasher 2 Ovenbird 1 Black-and-white Warbler 1 Orange-crowned Warbler 10 Nashville Warbler 1 Common Yellowthroat 1 American Redstart 1 Yellow-rumped Warbler 1 Black-throated Green Warbler 1 Wilson's Warbler 2 Northern Cardinal 1 Red-winged Blackbird 20 Great-tailed Grackle 1 View this checklist online at http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S12312036 Dan Jones, Weslaco Edit your Freelists account settings for TEXBIRDS at //www.freelists.org/list/texbirds Reposting of traffic from TEXBIRDS is prohibited without seeking permission from the List Owner
