[texbirds] Free birding walks and classes, and continuing hummers at Kleb Woods for 2014

The adult male Rufous and female Allen's continue to be seen daily from the
nature center porch. Ask the staff to show you how to recognize the Allen's.
There are also 2-4 other Selasphorus present. This morning there were also 8
Nutmeg Manikins at the parking lot.
Kleb Woods holds free bird walks every Wednesday from 8:30 - 11 am. There will
not be a bird walk on Jan 1 but all other Wednesdays. Beginner and skilled
birders alike are welcome. On occasional Wednesdays, there will also be
afternoon birding classes. Classes will begin January 22, 2014. Classes are
held at the Kleb Woods Nature Center, 20303 Draper Rd. Tomball, TX, from
1:30-3:00 PM and may include an off-site field trip. The scheduled classes are:
Jan 22nd - Identifying Waterfowl (plus a possible field trip)
Jan 29th - Gull Identification (plus Sandhill Crane roosting site field trip)
Feb 19 - Big Sparrows: Fox and Zonotrichia
Feb 26 - Little Striped Sparrows: Savannah, Vesper, and Melospiza
Mar 5th - Ammodramus Sparrow Workshop (plus field trip)
Mar 12th - Grasspipers: Sandpipers We Find in Grasslands
Mar 19th - Round Table: Why I Enjoy Birding (5 minutes per participant)
Apr 16th - Warbler Look-alikes
Apr 30th - The iPhone as a Birding Tool: A Hands-on Workshop
May 7th - Mosquito Kings and Lying Chiefs: Flycatcher Identification
May 14th - Breeding Birds of the Big Thicket
As with all programs offered at Kleb Woods Nature Center, these programs are
free and open to the public, courtesy of Steve Radack, Commissioner Precinct 3.
