Several birders were looking for the Tanager today, and were prepared to
enjoy the consolation prize of many Broad-winged Hawks heading north,
along with a Swainson's Hawk, Anhinga, Peregrine Falcon, Turkey Vultures
and a couple of Am White Pelicans.
The Tanager showed up at the bridge at about 1:18 p.m. and after flying a
little NW of the bridge, it finally flew to the large ash just south of the
bridge where it posed nicely for a couple of minutes. It was worth the
drive for birders from Houston, Austin and Missouri who all got to enjoy
the show.
