Texbirders:Was looking at a distribution map on ebird for our state bird,
the Northern Mockingbird, with 20km x 20km squares (the smallest scale of
purple rectangles in ebird) and noticed that of the thousands of rectangles
east of Abilene/essentially E. Of the Panhandle, our state bird has been
seenin every rectangle except two. There is one hole around Smiley Texas
(Gonzales co.) a.k.a. "The Smiley Hole". The only other hole is near the
intersction of TX16 with US281 N. of Markley, S. of Windthorst and NW of
Antelope (SE Archer County) a.k.a. "Windy Antelope Gap". ..........So am
issuing a challenge to any Texbirders passing through those areas. "Turn a
Frowney into a Smiley"..-or- ...."Make a Markey and fill the Windy Antelope
Gap" by finding and reporting a Northern Mockingbird in these two
locations!.............John Berner....W. Houston
