Good afternoon birders,
This morning's bird walk seemed to have it all - great birds, great
folks and terrific weather. Both the Virginia Rail and Sora showed up on cue
out at Pintail Lakes, giving everyone good long looks. The Green Kingfisher
and Ringed were visible as well, and when we arrived at Willow Lakes, the
Belted Kingfisher chatter was easily distinguished. Shorebirds were in
abundance with the lower water levels.
Bird walks continue daily through March, leaving the Visitor's Center
at 8:30 am. Hawk Watch is currently ongoing on the Santa Ana Levee from 8am
till 1 pm daily till April 15. Counters and guests are welcome.
