Hi Texbirds,
A few years ago, I inherited a second spotting scope after my mother passed
away. Since that time, my original scope has just been sitting in my closet
underutilized. I realized it would be a good idea to find a good home for
it, and I'm wanting to sell it.

The scope is a Kowa TSN 824 with a 20-60 zoom eyepiece. This is the scope
with the high quality fluorite lens and a straight--as opposed to
angled--eyepiece. In preparation to sell it, I sent it back to Kowa for
some cosmetic repairs. They replaced the armor, which had gotten a little
grimy and they removed a speck of dust. The effects of the new armor are
pretty impressive. The scope now looks brand new.

The scope also comes with a cloth case that has zippers on either end that
allow you to use the scope even while the case is on. When you're done you
just close the zippers and the lenses are protected. I am not including a
tripod however. You have to get that on your own, but if you need some
recommendations, I can help.

Though not quite as good as the top-of-the-line scopes today, this scope is
still excellent and outperforms any kind of budget or mid-tier scope
around. It has a large 82 mm objective lens, which lets in tons of light.
The zoom eyepiece is very useful for scanning large flocks and then zooming
in for a closer look at an individual bird. I'm asking $1,000 for it, which
I think is a great value. That's less than half of what new top tier scopes
from Leica, Swarovski, and Kowa cost today. (Don't forget to factor in the
price of an eyepiece if comparing prices.)

If you are interested, please contact me. I'm hoping to find someone who
will get lots of use from this scope.

(FYI, I'm out birding today, so it may take me a while to respond to
emails. I'll do my best to respond as quick as I can.)
