Through the years I have regularly heard people discuss South
Texas ecotourism. The discussions involve everything from the economic
impact of ecotourism in "South Texas" to bragging rights about how many
birds, leps, odes, etc. one has seen in "South Texas".
Is there any sort of widely accepted standard for what constitutes "South
Texas" from an ecotourism or ecological viewpoint?
The following are the two most common descriptions I hear for such a
definition:
Southeast corner of Terrell County to the southeast corner of Jefferson
County (including all or part of Sea Rim State Park).
Northeast end of Matagorda Island to Victoria to San Antonio to Del Rio.
The western terminus is moved north by some to include Seminole Canyon
State Park.
