the Lowe's...Dan's Ferruginous was right there in a lone tree. No bins were even required. It was definitely not the bird from last year, however that bird may be just down the road near the Colorado River as one was there during the Lost Pines CBC...I did not see it from 969 this morning tho. Also not far from Dan's bird was a rather pale Red-tail that might throw some off but it was across 969.......That should bring to 3 Ferruginous Hawks known in the area as I think Phil Rostron had one on the loop road just north of Shipp Lake....Like Chuck said, there seems to be a lot of raptors this year. I was not in birding mode but for those folks doing the Bastrop CBC tomorrow, do check the area around the pond located beside the Bastrop Cancer Care Center or behind the Medical building on 71 south of and just east of Bastrop where the hospital is. A sight only Red-headed Woodpecker was there this morning...I did not have bins at the time.....Sometimes they are missed on the CBC -- Brush Freeman Independent and affiliated Field Biologist 361-655-7641 http://texasnaturenotes.blogspot.com/ Finca Alacranes., Utley,Texas The greatest musician of all time is mother nature.
