All: While scoping a couple thousand shorebirds this evening at Wynn Joyce Park in Garland, just before sunset I noticed a pair of color-banded Whooping Cranes (probably with transmitters as well). I left at dark with the birds still present on the far shore about 1/2 mile away. To get to the park, take the Beltline-Broadway exit off I-30 in Garland. Go north on Broadway to Wynn Joyce Road, turn right, go all the way to the lake and park. Walk out to the mostly dry mud toward the huge metal utility pole. The birds were somewhat to the right of the concrete post line across the water and on the far shore.
