I spent most of yesterday chasing critters in Crosby County and despite
unpleasantly toasty conditions did quite well. Avian highlights included 1
Wood Duck east of Cone, 2 Gadwalls east of Cone, 4 Blue-winged Teals east
of Cone, 2 Northern Pintails south of Crosbyton, 6 Green-winged Teals east
of Cone, 2 Redheads east of Cone, 1 Ruddy Duck east of Cone, 1 male Rufous
Hummingbird well north of Crosbyton, 2 adult and 3 immature Common
Gallinules at the Ralls WTP, 2 Black-necked Stilts at Owens Playa, 2
Black-necked Stilts south of Crosbyton, 4 American Avocets at CR 173 x FM

Crosbyton, 6 Yellow-headed Blackbirds well north of Crosbyton, and 1 female
and 4 male Bronzed Cowbirds at White River Lake.
The non-avian highlights: a fishing spider (I didn't know that my area had
fishing spiders) hunting tadpoles in a puddle at White River Lake as well
as 14 Delaware Skippers mudding at the same puddle!
