Yesterday(05/08), Libby and I met up with our friend Denise Parks at the
Crescent Bend Nature Park. There, we spent about 4 delightful hours exploring
and Birding at this truly awesome location. Crescent Bend Nature Park is near
Schertz, Texas - in Bexar County.
This Nature Park houses countless amazing Trees - the Cedar Elms, and Anaqua
Trees will leave Tree lovers breathless, and Crescent Bend has some of the
largest Mesquite Trees that I have seen. Simply put - Way Cool!
Now for the Birds...We tallied 12 Warbler species: Mourning, Canada, American
Redstart, Chestnut-sided, Yellow, Magnolia, Black-throated Green,
Black-and-White, Nashville, Tennessee, Common Yellowthroat, and Wilson's.
Other Birds we enjoyed at Crescent Bend: Indigo and Painted Buntings, Summer
Tanager, Carolina Chickadee, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Cedar Waxwing, Eastern
Bluebird, Lark Sparrow, Great-crested and Least Flycatchers, Black-crested
Titmouse, Carolina Wren, Red-eyed and White-eyed Vireos, Lesser Nighthawk,
Crested Caracara, Red-shouldered Hawk, and Barred Owl(heard).
Just outside the Park, Libby spotted a Peregrine Falcon flying above some
Turkey and Black Vultures.
Needless to say, we cannot wait to go back!
