It was a fantastic couple of days on Sunday and Monday with 80,000 hawks coming through. In addition to the large numbers of broad-winged hawks, there were two zone-tailed hawks, a few bald eagles, the highest one-day count for sharp-shinned hawks in the history of the count, and a smattering of other raptors, including cooper's hawks, northern harriers, and some mississippi kites. This Saturday is looking like it could be good after the front passes on Friday. The front moving through the north part of the country could result in some western species, such as Ferruginous Hawk and Prairie Falcon. The video of THOUSANDS of broad-winged hawks migrating can be found here. 48,000 hawks came through on Monday between 8:30 and noon. https://www.flickr.com/photos/tiffkersten/15233861069/ Tiffany L.
