Stopped at Brushy Creek Lake Park in Cedar Park (Williamson Co.) this evening
to check out the wader roost.  I wasn't disappointed.  Both numbers and
diversity seem to be on the increase.  The waders started flying in (mostly
from the north and west) around 7:45pm.  By about 8:30pm it was pretty dark and
hard to make out the dark-colored birds.  Anyway, to get to the best vantage
point, park in the south-most parking lot, go south towards the Parmer Lane
overpass (south of the overpass is Brushy Creek Sports Park).  You'll cross a
foot bridge over a small creek.  Immediately to your left (to the east) is a
pavilion with a bench and a sign highlighting some of the local birds.  Look
south from there to the flooded snags in the lake.  There is backwater to just
off to the east that you can't really view that seemed to serve as a staging
area before all the waders went to roost in the flooded snags.  Anyway, it was
quite the show.  The following
are the birds I was able to tally:

Neotropic Cormorant 1
Great Blue Heron 2
Great Egret 10
Snowy Egret 89 (could have been more that came in while I sprinted off to grab
my spotting scope)

Little Blue Heron 4
Tricolored Heron 3
Green Heron 5
White-faced Ibis 1-2
Roseate Spoonbill 1 juvenile; maybe the same individual as at Devine Lake?
