Got to the refuge at dawn, bird noise quite evident. ;) The water level in all ponds is getting very, very low. Saw the usual shorebirds for this time of year, and a few Whistlers. A Cara Cara was perched atop a tree as we came in, but the light was very low and no decent shots gotten. The highlight though were the Bob White Quail along Teal Pond road. They were scattered in ones and twos up and down the road. He was perched on one of the railings at the gator pond next to the hdqtrs....and yes, there was a gator down below waiting for him to make a slip. Lots and lots of mosquitoes, but a pretty morning. -- Monte Phillips Texas City When a person cannot deceive himself the chances are against his being able to deceive other people.
