Hey everyone,

Quick update on what's been seen around Bentsen lately. A nice flock of
warblers (Wilson's, Yellow, American Redstart, Yellow-breasted Chat, Mourning)
along with a Clay-colored Thrush were feeding in the Ebony Trees close to tram
stop near the park's gift shop. A Rufous/Allen's Hummingbird showed up at
7:30-ish at the hummingbird feeders behind one of the HQ buildings. Really bad
light for pictures, but I did get one (available upon request).

In the park proper, Groove-billed Ani's are becoming scarce. They have started
gathering in small groups as they leave us to travel south. We are seeing ones
and twos, but we did see a group of about 12 of them from the Hawk Tower
Thursday evening.

Elsewhere in the park, the local birds (Green Jays, Altamira Orioles,
Kiskadees) are really hitting the water features at the park's bird blinds. A
quick look at any time of day will produce all three plus maybe White-tipped
Dove and Long-billed and Curve-billed Thrashers.

Hawk Watch will begin unofficially tomorrow morning at the park's Hawk Tower.
The official start will be next Thursday from 9am - 11am (until it gets
slightly cooler - then it will be from 9am - 12pm) and run through November 4th.

Ebird list is below. Join us for our Sunday morning birdwalks from 8:30am -
10:30am every Sunday.

See you here!
