Hi, all! Just a quick note to say that, despite the lack of warblers, I had a record-breaking mid-April Hidalgo County Big Day count yesterday, with 138 species! The best bird was probably the group of Black Skimmers at Delta Lake. Other interesting sightings include a male Redhead at Anzalduas (along that little marsh where you enter), an early (?) Eastern Wood Pewee at Frontera, several lingering wintering things, LOTS of Indigo and Painted Buntings, Beardless Tyrannulets out the wazoo (one was singing his little heart out at Bentsen), and more! Full trip report and photos and recordings later--gotta run!
