Hey ya'll,First thank you to the great number of you that responded for
my RFI request for a first Big Bend visit. The locales and tips were of great
use. This being a quick trip I have filed some of your ideas away for next
time, because I am planning a return trip in the spring to get the Colima. Â
The bottom line on birds is I added 9 lifers in the three days! I don't think I
have been able to add more than 3 lifers in a whole month in a couple years,
but I had never birded further west than Junction!   New birds for me
Acorn WP, Scaled Quail, Black tailed Gnatcatchers, Less Nighthawk, Varied
Bunting, Black Pheobe, Common Black Hawk, Gray Hawk, and a Mexican Jay in the
last 10 minutes I was in the Basin (what was supposed to be an easy bird became
my nemesis)! Sadly I couldn't find a good location for Hummers.  I will
post a longer post on locales and such tomorrow when I have more time. Big Bend
gave me the same feeling as the Redwoods of California do.... How small us
humans are.
