Yesterday Mike Rogan and I from Austin visited several hotspots in Bell
County. Highlights were two Warbling Vireos on Shallowford Road, four
raptors at the Temple Lions Park: Mississippi Kite, Broad-winged,
Red-shouldered and Red-tailed Hawks. Also, many Yellow-billed Cuckoos
popping up all over in Bell County especially at the Iron Bridge WMA. Lots
of Indigo Buntings there too.
Had a couple of singing Black-capped Vireos at Union Grove WMA in odd
habitat.

At Iron Bridge I recorded a bird that I think was an Upland Sandpiper. It
is a bubbly three note call. Never saw the bird, but it called for several
minutes. I know it is kind of late for this bird.

I put a recording on Xeno-canto and would appreciate any comments. You have
to listen past the other birds especially a persistent titmouse.

Thanks.
