.
I did another round of post fire point counts at Bastrop SP this morning.
Upland Sandpipers and Solitary Sandpipers streaming overhead all morning
with the SE winds. Summer Tanagers are back, at least one is, a male
singing nicely in a semi burned woodland. Black-and-whites and
Yellow-throated Vireos were singing in earnest where the fire left areas
pretty much unscathed or there is new dense undergrowth. I saw my first
Gray Fox there since the 2011 fire, crossing Harmon Rd
With so much shorebird activity overhead I hit a couple of locations on
the way home tho it was already well past noon and the winds had really
picked up. Still I was not disappointed in the Utley area, with grounded
Uplands, my FOS Buff-breasteds (7), Golden Plovers, Sprague's Pipits 5-6,
Broad-winged Hawks going over etc.
