Today, I drove out east of town and eventually over to Bastrop & Buescher State Parks. Found mostly the usual suspects, but had an excellent woodpecker event at the parking and fishing area by the dam at the lake in Buescher State Park. Around 1:00 pm at almost the same time I had: 2 Pileated Woodpeckers 1 Red-bellied Woodpecker 2 Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers 1 Adult Male Red-naped Sapsucker! 1 Downey Woodpecker I first heard the Pileated calling and drumming, and then they all showed up with about 10 minutes of each other. Also, from the overlook and power line alley entering Buescher along the Park Road 1C (I believe), I had an excellent look from above at a mature male Harrier. They're really pretty birds, aren't they? Existing Bastrop SP toward Buescher, I had a mixed flock of Pine Warblers (about 8) and some Myrtle YR Warblers as well as Ruby-crowned Kinglets, about 15 birds in total.
