The Austin area Rare Bird Alert is a service of the Travis Audubon Society.
This update is as of 9/4/2014. Send interesting sightings, complete with
species name, location, and contact information to Nate McGowan at
natemcgowanbirds@xxxxxxxxx.
First, a few birds that were lacking from last weeks report.

A white morph REDDISH EGRET was a great find west of La Grange, *Fayette*,
on 8/27.

ROSEATE SPOONBILLS were present at the same location as the Reddish Egret
in *Fayette* on 8/27.

A BLACK PHOEBE was described from Warbler Woods in *Guadalupe*, on 8/25.

-Rarities found this week-

A SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER at Devine Lake Park, *Williamson*, was a
remarkable find on 8/30.

A MARBLED GODWIT was extraordinary at Union Grove WMA, *Bell*, on 8/31.

Six ROSEATE SPOONBILLS were seen near Hornsby Bend, *Travis*, 8/31.

A SANDERLING was photographed at Hornsby Bend, *Travis*, on 8/29.

A DUNLIN was reported at Hornsby Bend, *Travis*, 9/1.

An OVENBIRD was good find for early September at Hornsby Bend, *Travis*,
9/1.

A BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER was nice at Devine Lake, *Williamson*, 9/4.

Reports for the Austin area RBA cover a 60 mile radius, centered on the
Capitol in downtown Austin. Bird sightings mentioned here have been
filtered and scrutinized by the compiler and are believed to be genuine.
When documentation or photographs were provided, that is mentioned along
with the other information about the bird(s) being seen. For questions or
