Send interesting sightings- complete with species name, LOCATION, and contact information- to Kenny Anderson at kennya290@xxxxxxxxx Hornsby Bend has a wintering Cape May Warbler- originally found 1/31, intermittently being seen near the Hergotz Crossing portion of the River Trail. Latest update was 2/8- this bird has been seen by numerous obseversand photo-documented quite nicely. (Travis County) 2 Calliope Hummingbirds have been documented visiting an Austin home's feeder this winter. One was photographed this week and has been faithfully visiting the feeder. (Travis) The Inks Lake National Fishery has a reliable Long-tailed Duck which many observers have seen. Successful updates on 2/8,12 from the Burnet County location. A Yellow-headed Blackbird was photographed in Williamson County on CR 356 in the Granger Lake area. on 2/10. A Say's Phoebe continues on an inaccessible property in Bastrop County. 2/8 A Yellow-throated Warbler was observed in the town of Gonzales on 2/9. (Gonzales) A Wilson's Warbler was described at Mable Davis Park in Austin on 2/10. The bird is working the eastern side of the ponded creek. (Travis) 3 Harris's Hawks were seen in Gonzales County on CR 436 near the egg farm. Austin has an wintering American Bittern. This week the bird was spotted at Martin Park along the Lower Colorado River portion Lady Bird Lake on 2/9. It was seen near the boat launch at Festival Beach. 2/9 also had a report from the Colorado River Preserve near 183 and the Lower Colorado River. Rusty Blackbirds continue to be seen at Hornsby Bend in Travis County and Aquarena Springs in Hays County. Reports for the Austin area RBA cover a 60 mile radius, centered from the Capitol in downtown Austin.
