This is the Austin Area Rare Bird Alert. This update is as of 8/13/2015.
Send interesting sightings, complete with species name, location, and
contact information to Nate McGowan at natemcgowanbirds@xxxxxxxxx.
-Rarities found this week-

A WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER was well described at Hornsby Bend, *Travis*, 8/9.
This is a great observation for the fall.

A WHITE-TAILED KITE was well described from Bastrop, *Bastrop*, 8/9.

A KENTUCKY WARBLER has been present at Warbler Woods, *Guadalupe,* Most
recently 8/13. The bird has been well photographed.

A COUCH'S KINGBIRD has been present at Slough Pond, *Bell*, for the last
week.

AN AMERICAN REDSTART was a good find at Hornsby Bend, *Travis*, 8/8.

A SHARP-SHINNED HAWK was a bit early at Commons Ford, *Travis*, 8/8.

-Continuing birds from previous weeks-

A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER continued near Alum Creek at Bastrop State Park,
*Bastrop*, 8/9.

A GREAT KISKADEE continues at Berry Springs Park in Georgetown,
*Williamson,* most recently 8/11.

Reports for the Austin area RBA cover a 60 mile radius, centered on the
Capitol in downtown Austin. Bird sightings mentioned here have been
filtered and scrutinized by the compiler and are believed to be genuine.
When documentation or photographs were provided, that is mentioned along
with the other information about the bird(s) being seen. For questions or
