Hi Texbirders and future Pelagic Fanatics,
This Saturday's Texas Pelagic trip still has a few openings due to a few
last minute cancellations. This will be the third Texas Pelagic of 2015 and
our second 16 hour Pelagic for 2015. I just saw the first long range
forecast for Saturday and it looks excellent. In fact the forecast for the
whole week up until Saturday also looks excellent, but Saturday is
especially good.
NWS: Saturday Southeast winds 8 to 13 knots. Seas 1 to 2 feet. Slight chance
of showers.
So let's hope this holds throughout the week. It is such a consistent
forecast all week long so I'd guess things remain stable for the week. For a
while last week when Depression # 4 first organized in the mid-Atlantic I
wondered if it would make it into the Gulf. For a while it looked as if
Hurricane Danny might just barely reach the GOM by Saturday near south
Florida. This would have been interesting if it had pushed seabirds ahead of
it, but still far enough away to not affect our wave heights. But now alas
it seems to have petered out in the Caribbean.
This has been an excellent year for rare sighting so far in Offshore Texas,
the latest being the two Brown Noddies seen by Petra Hockey offshore Port
O'Connor. So why not join us on this great Texas Birding Adventure?
Good Seabirding,
Gary Hodne
