This Saturday, November 22 at 1pm in Dallas Martha McLeod (Fulton Learning Center science teacher, member of the National Teaching Hall of Fame & TOS member) will be conducting a TOS-sponsored workshop at CAST (Conference of the Advancement of Science Teaching) at Hotel Anatole. Her workshop title is "Birding 101 - How to get a youth birding program started at your school". Her workshop will target the upper level elementary campus but would be helpful for all science teachers interested in developing a birding program in their schools. Martha has developed a successful program of very enthusiastic young birders at her school all of whom look forward to competing in the Great Texas Birding Classic Roughwing division of the birding competition annually. She will share suggestions of how to begin and create a basic birding program for your students. Shelly Plante, TPWD Nature Tourism manager and coordinator of the GTBC will be present at the workshop.
