Tom/Texbirds, The Western Kingbird Dec. influx is a regular thing (in small numbers). Western Kingbirds depart pretty early, by August at least, and are rarely seen thereafter until late Nov.-early Dec., then there is a rash of sightings all along the coast. There is a very small wintering population in the Mississippi delta and in south Florida. I'm not sure about the arrival schedule of the latter but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't consist of these late migrants (from where?). jca John C. Also nearby was an Ash-throated Flycatcher. It's interesting how recently I've seen several species I haven't seen for at least a couple of months, which may indicate some lingering birds further north that are finally getting pushed down because of weather or food issues. Also odd is the appearance of 1 or 2 Lark Buntings lately, whereas in past years when I normally start to see them they are in larger numbers. Further below is the list of birds found yesterday.
