A clear blue sky in the morning, warm temps and Anahuac...what could be better. Although not a lot of activity near viewing areas it was well worthwhile. We went primarily to see the Snow Geese, and were not disappointed. Some pics at the main site, the short auto loop, and near main office. The requisite Vermilion Flycatcher right at the parking lot and the beginning of the Willow Trail. https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/8sEgZjdS5p3RKp2j3faYi9MTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=directlink A decent shot of a Common Moorhen and a male Blue-winged Teal https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/7SNZWEFTFNdyCDtZ8JgkstMTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=directlink After making the short auto-loop we headed over to the Skillern tract in the late afternoon. A real treat (though didn't yield the best pics, were a small flock of White-faced Ibis. We drove down to the end of the main entrance road to the beginning of the trail. There were a number of Snow Geese, White, and White-faced Ibis, and egrets right in the corner nearest the beginning of the trail. within 15 minutes or so large flights of birds started coming in to roost for the night. After a half hour or so it was a literal blizzard of birds. It has been years since I was right in the midst of so many geese...fantastic! Here's a pic of the 'eruption. as new flights came in. https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/MAj4YP7NbKbIGpObS8JqwNMTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=directlink ..and a link to the whole album https://picasaweb.google.com/monte.phillips/OurBirdPicsCritters?authuser=0&feat=directlink -- Monte Phillips Texas City The fear of death follows from the fear of life.
