Hi all, Just a heads up for those south of the Metroplex: Between about 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., Greg Cook, Darlene Moore, Ed Wetzel and I estimated 46,000 Franklins Gulls moving south over Kaufman County. At least 12 of the loose-knit flocks numbered over 1000 birds and the largest of the flocks, which was strewn over several miles, contained an estimated 12,000 birds. Despite the north winds there were relatively few other birds on the move, the most noteworthy being 2 Palm Warblers and a nice dark-phase Swainson's Hawk. Steve Glover Fort Worth
