[texbirds] 4 Warbler day McAllen Nature Center 09-07-14

Hi Birders,
Today I went looking for a *Lark Sparrow at the McAllen Nature Center.
Because I didn't have one in my county. The other reason was I had never
been there. Their Webb site said they where open 7 days a week so off I
went. The Webb site is wrong they are open Sat and Sun 8AM till 12PM.
They would like you to sign in their book so that they will keep it open
at least these hours. But it doesn't look good for that to happen unless
people start showing up. I signed in and they didn't even tell me that
they closed at 12 so they had to come find me and tell me they where
closing in 30 min.
I was having such a great time watching all the birds that it seemed
like I hadn't been there but only an hour. I had been there 3 hours.
Well I guess I better get back to the reason for my visit. I found the
Water Hole from their sign.*
I almost missed it until I saw all the birds headed that way. They sure
knew where it was without the sign. Do you think they can read or do you
think it so we can read it? Any way they sure like to wait on the sign
for their turn. It was a 4 Warbler day for me
Yellow Warbler at least 2- 1 male 1 female
Wilson's Warbler 2 or 3 -1 male 2 females
Common Yellowthroat 1 male
Mourning Warbler 1 female
Buff-bellied Hummingbird 1
Ruby-throated Hummingbird 1
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher 1
Willow Flycatcher 1
Baltimore Oriole 1 male 1female
Orchard Oriole 2 females
Plain Chachalaca 4
Northern Cardinal 1 male 1 female
White-tipped Dove 2
Long-billed Thrasher 1
Green Jay 2
Golden-fronted Woodpecker 6 at least
Great-crested Flycatcher 1
Great Kiskadee 4
Curve-billed Thrasher 3
Cactus Wren 1
Yellow-crowned Night-Heron 1
Northern Mockingbird 5
House Sparrow 8
European Starling 3
I didn't find the *Lark Sparrow maybe if I had had longer. So if your
out that way on a Sat or Sun Stop by so it will stay open.
