2 Inca Dove were at the birdbath here yesterday....the first I've seen this year. Also had a Red Shouldered Hawk hanging out for a couple days. First to be seen here. And we've had the usual yardbirds: Cardinals Bluebirds Mockingbird (who's singing a lot lately) Scissortails Killdeer Canada Geese (LOTS!) Chickadee Titmouse Eurasian Collared Dove Great Horned Owl Barred Owl Turkey & Black vultures Redtail Hawk European Sparrows Chipping Sparrows Roadrunner Great Blue Heron Crows (lots) Carolina Wren Bluejays Flycatcher (sorry, no definite ID) Woodpecker Brown-headed Cowbird Cattle Egrets Mallards (on the river) Belted Kingfisher The White-Winged Doves seem to have left, as have the Hummingbirds. Have also had around the house lately: a skunk (wanders by every morn), a Raccoon (tried to move into the rain gutter under the deck roof, but now is living under the empty house next door), a Fox (wanders through every dusk), and a Possum (see the tracks in the dirt around the house every morn). And of course the resident herd of 13 deer. That number doesn't seem to vary from year to year. Kinda interesting. We sure need some rain here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's so dry, I'm having nose bleeds. And we can walk across the river (live in a bend of the Brazos) at almost every point here. Good birding.
