[TechAssist] zenith vrd200

hello all,
i have a zenith vcr vrd200, the problem is that the take up reel stops
turning when you put it into play mode, ff and rwd both work fine, i check
photosensor, it is puting out a nice signal in ff and rw mode, i looked at
the voltage on the take up motor and it looks low to me for playback, i have
no manual for this vcr, i tried to find a data sheet for the motor driver ic
m54647, but to no avail, is there a common failure for this problem?
