Jeff Stileau had one with what sounds like the same symptom. Here is what he
found:

Found Q471 2SA1015 shorted in the fail safe ( Xray) circuit.

Subject: [TechAssist] toshiba 27af41 hv problem

> Hi All
> We have a Toshiba mod; 27AF41 that shutsdown immediately at 5 K.V. Have
checked the hi-volt. caps. and B+, drive signal, and rang the flyback and
yoke. We have a diagram but can't figure anything. Do you have an idea to
narrow this down. Our hot check flyback checker is down and not sure how to
handle this one. Thanks -Terry
