here is the bulletin from Panasonic: Subject: Convergence EEPROM change due to a data lost problem Affected Models: PT-51G36E, PT-51D31E/VE/XE, PT-61D31E/VE/XE, PT-M5131VE (Affected Chassis) P6 Symptoms: Sudden loss of convergence adjustments data, when unit is turned on. Instructions: Replace the following components: Remove the original convergence EEPROM (IC7102)#24LC64TI-SN from X board. (Make sure to unsolder the pins completely before removing. Incomplete desoldering will cause the copper foil to peel off.) Check the configuration of EEPROM before place it on the X board. For models PT-51D31C, PT-M5131VE/XE and PT-51G36E/CE replace the IC7102 with #TVR2AJ142S For models PT=31D31CE/VE/XE replace the IC7102 with TVR2AJ143S procced to adjust the unit. (Follow the Service Manual adjustment instructions) Reasons: The original EEPROM 24LC64TI-SN is able write data any time, it does not have write protection function. New EEPROM has "write protection" function. When pin 7 is set High (with R7156) it will "write protect" making it unable to modify the data. This function will keep EEPROM unable to write, unless, it is in convergence adjustment mode. This will prevent unwanted EEPROM data change or lost. Average adjustment time about 2 hours Robert tvservice@xxxxxxxxxxxxx H & H Electronics Inc http://supertek.igniteinc.biz ----- Original Message ----- From: "Electric Medic" <info@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, December 27, 2005 8:46 PM Subject: [TechAssist] Re: pt-51g36ce convergence problem > Have not ever seen or heard of a bad EPROM on a Panasonic PTV for poor > convergence.
