Eric,
try this tip pasted from panasonic bulletin

Symptom: The unit will intermittently shutdown and must be unplugged before
it will turn on again.
Causes: . Faulty components in the ABL circuit cause increased beam current
to trigger shutdown circuit.
. Arcing at CRT connector and/or spark gap causes shutdown.
Remedy: . Troubleshoot ABL circuit and check components listed below. Check
C524 and R517.
. Clean CRT pins and/or replace CRT socket connector (part number TJSC01800)
