Pete: I hate to say I told you so. Of course I didn't know you changed the
red tube. The last post I saw was you just adjusted the screen controls, I
figured that would come back to you or another shop based on my experience
going behind other shops that customers said was in another shop recently. I
could see by the white paint that they adjusted the controls only, so I
learned to replace the block, and or rejuv. the tube. Seldom do you have to
replace the tube unless it is bright screen and shutdown, unless it is that
one certain model that you have to update the crt boards with the new spark
gaps and replace a transistor. Since you changed the tube it must be the crt
board or the screen block. Usually the screen block is bad, second is tube
and third is crt board. In either case playing the set for a couple of days
is the only way to know for sure. The only sure way to fix in home is to
replace tube, block and crt board in one shot. That will insure no recalls
and probably cheaper than running back and forth on recalls. Once you get
past the cost of tube the other parts are not that expensive. Although since
I bring those in to shop the tube is seldom bad unless the set shuts down.
