I also use a old HD sat receiver with a bad sat tuner. The OTA tuner works
and I get HD output.

Subject: [TechAssist] inexpensive HD pattern generator inquiry

I am assisting a small local TV shop (not unlike myself) in gearing up
for HD service. He's waiting for DSL to be installed, then I will direct
him to a forum.Aparently he doesn't have an HD generator, so if he needs
to go to 1080i pattern to do a convergence, he's sunk. On a tight
budget, can't afford thousands for a Sencore. I understand MCM has a
Tenma for about $650.00. There was a company CMM (computer monitor
maintanence) around that sold good priced sig gens.Need some suggestions
to pass along to him. Even if a lesser brand has fewer patterns, as long
as he can select a HD mode, isn't that the most important issue?
Thanks,
Phil Bader
