Zenith 36 inch model B36A24Z, 9-2069 master module.
The customer said this came from one of the furnature store chains. It
was returned to their service dept. supposedly repaired.(details vague)
I noticed the main filter cap was replaced (470ufd@250V) and there was
brown stain underneath.(Maybe 220VAC line voltagedamaged?) Customer said
later went all red. Customer claimed it was storm related.
CRT tested good with good RGB gun balance. I checked the CRT module. I
found the *following resistors* *open*:
R5126, 220K
R5103,R5110,R5119 all 120K.
(BTW there is a 3 volt zener, D5101 on the CRT board that my Fluke
75III meter tested reverse leakage on diode test. Diode is good, Fluke
technical said this is due to the meter's test voltage between the
probes, and the low zener voltage. Read 1.5 reverse in diode test, .7
forward. Diode was found to be OK)
These resistors repaired the TV and restored good picture.
Question: Does a surge ever cause these resistors to open?
