David, If this is the unit I am thinking of, the take-up arm should sit behind the pinch roller at home position. If this is the unit that has the "U" shaped arm for the clutch, that goes bad. support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx FAX 717-564-4952 Jeff Dougherty Intrepid Video & Electronics Be careful of your thoughts. 501 Luther Rd They may become your words Harrisburg, PA 17111 any moment. 717-909-8844 VCR tips, electronics info & general interest. www.intrepid-video.com www.tech-repair.net www.thetoolcaddy.com www.9-11-2001tragedy.com *********************************************************************** ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Lessard" <mrfixit@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, January 07, 2003 3:44 PM Subject: [TechAssist] Zenith VCR VRL4242HF Problem: Cassette loads OK, guide arms load tape on video head OK, tape does not get pulled in behind drop down pinch roller, therefore it doesn't pass over the audio head, no audio (sync, etc). The lever which is supposed to do this does nothing, it doesn't move. Lever seems to be cam driven by main (black) gear but I can see that the cam never comes in contact with the lever, it must be misaligned. Does anyone have a mechanical diagram for this model? Thanks gentlemen.
