My thoughts exactly, A member uploaded a schematic for the CA series
yesterday afternoon and I was studding it to see the turn on path and that
is a good place to start.

peter check Q3402 and Q3404 These are your power on transistors. If 3404 is
shorted or leaky it will keep your horizontal on.
