This unit came in for intermittent vertical collapse, tapping affected. I did confirm the problem, but when it came time to work on unit, I could NOT get it to act up. I replaced all the caps in the vertical section and after the last cap, the unit would not stay on. It would start to build high voltage, then shutdown. Unplug and try again and same thing. Before this occurred, the vertical IC heat sink was really warm, so I replaced the IC (TDA8174) and no help. I did use Zenith #221-00992. Also, is there a surface mount resistor between pin 2,4 of vertical IC, that my solder wick may have eaten? Would anyone have any advice before I tackle this thing on Fri? Thanks.
